Sol
This page contains information on systems that are in happy retirement from the Computer Systems Lab.
Sol used to reside in the old Sun rack in the machine room. It previously served as one of the AP CS Sun Ray servers. Until its retirement, it has served various roles at various points in time including NSS LDAP server, Secure Global Desktop server, CUPS server, mirror, and Sun NFS admin volume server.

History
Sol was one of the donated Sun servers acquired by the CSL in the spring of 2005. It was replaced in 2008 with servers received from Sun through the Sun Academic Excellence Grant.
